Oriented Strand Board (OSB)
OSB (Oriented Strand Board) is made of oriented long size wood chips. OSB is produced by method of compression: long size wood chips mixed with synthetic resin are compressed in high temperature and high pressure. The basic raw material for production of OSB is pine, fir-tree or soft hardwood species. OSB boards contain up to 90% of wood. There are isocyanic and melamine-carbamide-phenolformaldehyde resins used as binding substances, which increases humidity durability characteristics of the boards. Low content of binding substance in the boards not only provides their ecological safety, but also gives them other useful qualities of wood – lightness (board density – about 650 kg/m3), low thermal conductivity, good acoustic reduction, good processing features and aesthetic look.
